Palo Alto Networks Acquires CirroSecure, A SaaS Security Specialist

Network security firm Palo Alto Networks on Wednesday announced that it has acquired CirroSecure, a security startup focused on protecting SaaS applications. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. 

Palo Alto said, adding CirroSecure's technology to its network security platform will allow it to offer additional security tools for SaaS applications such as DropBox, GitHub, Google Drive and Salesforce. CirroSecure's technology offers a highly differentiated approach to securing these applications by providing complete visibility across all user, folder and file activity.

Based in Sunnyvale, CirroSecure delivers a tool to manage and secure SaaS applications by providing deep visibility into the application activity as well as data analytics for policy enforcement and quarantining violations. The company offers technology that helps secure cloud applications by providing visibility across user, folder and file activity while leveraging analytics into usage to determine if any policy or data security violations have occurred. 

Lee Klanich, senior vice president of product development, Palo Alto Networks, said in an interview: "CirroSecure has a great combination of very interesting technology and a very smart group of core engineers, core technologists that we think would be a great fit at Palo Alto Networks." 

Lee Klanich also added this: "It's very important for Palo Alto Networks as a security platform that we are covering all users on all devices for all applications and that we're providing very innovative security capabilities in that context", "What this is is another extension of all applications. ... It allows us to provide a deeper level of security for SaaS applications."

Palo Alto Networks is a US-based network security firm, its core products are designed to provide network security, visibility and granular control of network activity based on application, user and content identification. The company competes with the likes of Cisco, Fortinet, CheckPoint, Juniper Networks and Cyberoam.
