LookingGlass Acquires Cyveillance, An Open Source Threat Intelligence Company

LookingGlass Cyber Solutions, a leader in threat intelligence-driven security and dynamic threat defense, has acquired Cyveillance, an open-source threat intelligence firm. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The deal enhances LookingGlass’ ability to deliver the most advanced and comprehensive threat intelligence-driven solutions in the market, enabling IT teams to find and mitigate cyber threats using advanced security intelligence. 

Founded in 1997 by Brandy Thomas, Christopher Young, Mark Bildner, and Jason Thomas, Cyveillance is a US-based company that offers an open source intelligence-led approach to security through continuous, comprehensive monitoring and analysis of millions of online data sources to protect client information, infrastructure, and employees from physical and cyber threats. It uses a proprietary technology platform and human security analyst to find and identify risks early for prevention and mitigation. Cyveillance is based in Reston, Virginia, it’s clients include companies from the financial services, energy, technology, retail, and pharmaceutical industries. Currently, the company provides open-source internet intelligence to over 400 clients.

In May 2009, Cyveillance was acquired by QinetiQ North America, an information technology and engineering solutions provider to the US government.
