FireEye Acquires Security Orchestration And Automation Provider Invotas

The deal enables FireEye to offer security orchestration capabilities as a part of its Global Threat Management Platform. FireEye is adding another firm to its growing arsenal of cyber security technology. FireEye has acquired Invotas, a company that develops a platform that helps administrators respond faster to security incidents. The deal closed on Monday, but financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. 

The deal enables FireEye to offer one of the world's premier security orchestration capabilities as part of the FireEye global threat management platform. FireEye plans to leverage Invotas technology to unify cyber attack detection results, threat intelligence, and incident response elements of an organization's security program into a single console, giving enterprises the ability to respond more quickly and more effectively to cyber attacks through automation.

The deal will combine two of the world's leading cybersecurity firms. FireEye, which is known for its highly innovative Mandiant forensic unit, provides real-time threat protection against all types of cyber attacks. , Invotas, which is known for security platforms that help IT administrators respond faster to security incidents. 

David DeWalt, FireEye CEO and chairman of the board said in a  statement: 
"The addition of Invotas' technology enables us to enhance our global threat management platform and advance ongoing efforts to provide our customers with a centralized method to manage alerts and intelligence and then automate actions based on FireEye-built playbooks or their own custom strategies," and also added this: "The ability to provide one efficient console for an organization's security program solidifies FireEye's role as a trusted advisor."

Paul Nguyen, CEO of Invotas, said in a statement:

Founded in 2014 and based in Alexandria, Virginia, Invotas is a security orchestration and automation provider. Invotas has a single product, its Security Orchestration, which is designed to take in information from a range of security products from different vendors and automate responses when an incident is detected. Invotas currently employs 19 people.

The addition of Invotas’ technologies to FireEye’s security portfolio promises to have a huge effect on the world's face with an escalating threat landscape, addressing and meeting the critical needs of companies struggling to keep pace with the advance of cyber threats. 

Invotas is FireEye’s second big acquisition this year. A week ago, the company made huge headlines when it acquired iSIGHT, a leading provider of cyber threat intelligence for global enterprises. Dallas-based iSIGHT is a very specialized security firm, best known for tracking threat development and uncovering large cyber campaigns from Russia, Iran, and other rogue nations.

In addition, FireEye plans to use Invotas’ technology as part of its partnership with security firm ForeScouts, which develops software that detects new devices joining a network and manages them.
